Fans had more anime than they could have hoped to see with something like 200 new series shown this year—and more adorable anime waifus than they could have kept track of. I generated this list using the following standards:
- At least while her show was running, were anime viewers loving the girl?
- Did supporters establish Reddit threads about the girl or create memes or fanart about her?
- Was the character’s stand-out quality derived from the superb voice-acting performance?
- In particular, sometimes a show is popular, but there isn’t a clear “waifu” for viewers to grasp. Mato Seihei no Slave is a wonderful example since it balanced beautiful female characters with no particularly notable waifus. Our selections had to be outstanding waifus.

Yuki Suou
The main character Masachika’s secret sister Yuki Suou from Roshidere. Following their parents’ divorce, was raised apart from her brother. She enjoys reading books on brother-and-sister incest and fooling her brother. Even the English dub is decent, this show is excellent!
Anna Yamada – A Dangerous Waifu
Some fans might have skipped this anime since the first few episodes focus on a boy with a pretty dark vibe. But if you hung in there, you got to enjoy one of the best school romance series in years. I really enjoyed the second season; it wrapped up some parts of the story nicely. I’m really hoping we get a third season once more volumes of the manga come out.
Utena – BDSM and Magic
What would you do if you had magic at your fingertips? Would you use it for something good or something bad? Gushing Over Magical Girls dives into the magical girl genre freshly, looking at some sexy fetishes. I totally loved every episode!
Erufuda – Real Fun
We were totally into this new anime, Elf-san wa Yaserarenai, or Plus-Sized Elf. So, there were these elves who showed up in our world and ended up getting chubby from munching on french fries.
Lemon Yakishio – Perfect Tanned Waifu
It’s awesome when a side character just pops up and totally takes over the spotlight. So, that’s what went down with Lemon in Too Many Losing Heroines! She’s an airhead with dark skin, and fans totally fell for her.
Chinatsu Kano – Sports and Love
I’m really into this romance anime called Ao no Hako / Blue Box. It’s about a guy named Taiki who’s got a crush on his senpai Chinatsu. She’s the coolest girl in school. Can you believe his surprise when he finds out Chinatsu is going to live with him for a whole year? I thought this show would be wrapping up since the anime season is coming to a close. But, then I heard it’s gonna be a full 25 episodes, which means we have a lot of awesome episodes to look forward to!
Alya – A Russian Kuudere to Date
Another well-liked anime waifu is Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou, who’s got a mix of Russian and Japanese heritage. So, are you into Alya?
Minami Fuyuki – A Gal in Hokkaido
So, there’s this story called Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable. It’s about a guy who moves from Tokyo to the chilly northern island of Hokkaido and ends up finding a super cute gal to keep him cozy!
Rudy – Mushoku Tensei
One “Narou-kei” anime that I’ve been really impressed by is Mushoku Tensei. This year, we finally got to see Rudy with the love of his life, and it was awesome to see.
Sylpha – A Magical Shota
Another cool anime girl that fans reacted to was Sylphy, a maid and tutor to Prince Lloyd. With all her fun moments and being one of the coolest anime girls around, she definitely won over a lot of fans.
2.5D No Ririsa – Cosplay Harem
What’s the ultimate harem an otaku could dream of? What if a group of hot girl cosplayers changed right in front of you to show off their adorable outfits?
Amagami Sisters – Everybody wants them
If you’re looking for a sequel to Quintessential Quintuplets where the girls hang out at a Shinto shrine and work as shrine maidens, this anime rom-com is totally for you. I’ve got some awesome news – there are 24 episodes in this series, so it’s going to keep going into the new year.
Nephelia – An Elf Bride
How to Love Your Elf Bride, aka I, a Dark Lord, Want to Make My Elf Slave My Bride, Properly Cherish Her? – it was super fun while it was on. Fans totally loved how Nephy’s ears would wiggle when she got nervous.
Rin Nanakura from Pseudo Harem
If you’re a fan of voice actress Saori Hayami, this show is totally for you. Rin Nanakura is thinking about joining the school’s drama club… and hanging out with her senpai, Eiji. When he talks about wanting his own harem of girls, she takes on different roles for him: like the little sister, Tsundere-chan, and more.
Towa – An Angel
A pretty entertaining but expected idea about a dude who ends up sharing a tiny one-room apartment with an angel and a bunch of other supernatural creatures.
