What really is hentai?
Hentai has been defined repeatedly, and nowadays’ definitions claim that this is an actual segment of manga and anime. The word itself means “a person or state or action of being sexually abnormal in a specific fantastic manner, or being a part of an experience that is considered sexually abnormal in a fantastic way”. Hentai porn shows the erotic content of a sub-genre rather than all types of erotic content. The presented in H-content has a fantastic character, but it is considered pervert and weird, including extraordinary gangbangs, rapes, and bizarre creatures.
The H-art is actually not the full name of this segment of the manga. Shockingly, it is the short name of hentai seiyoku, which literally means bizarre sexual needs. This segment has a different representation starting with literature, which was named clearly “an ugly erotica that does not make any sense.”
How did it all start?
Did you know that manga dates back to the twelfth century, and this is the time spot where the H-art starts? Some historical documents show it, but what they offer is just the very beginning- politically-oriented drawings of animals and fantastic creatures playing jokes on the nobles. Later on, these were produced with wooden molds rather than hand labor, and this made the production easier, so the spread was wider. However, the perspective was a bit changed at this point- the presentation was no longer jokes but sex records serving as guides. In the twentieth century, the western influence was so strong that hentai adopted Western features, and voila! This is the manga we know today!
After the war, there was not much left to those who managed to survive but their bodies. This was the moment of Japanese positivity, and people found it eye-opening to the natural beauty of our bodies, and we have them just like any other thing in our pockets. A serious psychological process of objectification of sexuality began back then. It revived the idea that abnormal is beautiful and certain types of sexual desires are still weird but not hidden!
